City walk Deventer

The city walk Deventer takes you trough the the historical center. You’ll find narrow, cobbled streets, ancient buildings, and picturesque canals. The Bergkwartier is filled with beautiful buildings from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. A standout is, of course, the Great or Lebuïnus Church in the city center. Deventer is a charming and historic city, situated on the banks of the IJssel river. Its history dates back to the Middle Ages.

Deventer is renowned for its books and the Charles Dickens Festival. You’ll find lovely murals depicting these themes throughout the city. Pay a visit to the Charles Dickens Cabinet, a permanent exhibition about the life and work of Charles Dickens. Another interesting museum is the Museum de Waag, housed in the oldest weighhouse in the Netherlands.
